In this think tank, the participants developed an overview of the support processes in resource management in the form of a map. Resources were defined as everything that is available to the universities to fulfill their tasks—for example, finances, personnel and buildings.
The white paper presented provides an overview of the process domains in the area of resources (e.g. personnel or information) and the process groups that fall under them, based on the structure of the ZKI process map for teaching and learning. The developed process map can serve as a frame of reference for the overarching process-oriented work on the digitalization of administrative processes both within individual universities and in joint projects.
The process-oriented approach in the context of the analysis, further development, optimization and introduction of supporting IT systems for administrative work at universities and colleges has proven itself in the context of campus management. In the area of resource management, a reference point such as the ZKI process map published in 2016 is still missing. Both internal university concepts and project definitions as well as cross-university cooperation for the development of solutions and process requirements for the supporting IT systems could be significantly accelerated by such a prepared structure and presentation of the processes. Such an overview would be particularly helpful for the major challenges currently facing the digital transformation of administrative processes.
