The think tank has been working intensively on the far-reaching changes that the digital transformation is bringing with it in terms of collaboration, teams, leadership and communication. It is crucial to take cultural change into account in everyday university life and to develop the organization and working methods accordingly.
There are several pressing reasons for cultural change at universities, with this think tank focusing on the digitalization of administrative processes. The aim of digital transformation is to make work safe, healthy and motivating. The introduction of digital working methods usually also changes the requirements for work, team collaboration and leadership relationships. It is also important to ensure that employees are involved in the change processes in order to identify further starting points for improving digital work and working conditions.
The presented white paper “Cultural Change” presents measures for cultural diagnostics and cultural development as well as recommendations for successful transformation support for university management and organizational/personnel development managers. With this white paper, the previous bwUni.digital discussion catalog, including the structure and strategy of digitalized administrative processes, is now completed by the topic of social acceptance through cultural change. After all, the crux of the matter for a successful transformation, be it digital or not, is and remains the organizational culture and its ability to change.
