Customised RADAR repository for EArth and Environmental data To facilitate Integration in V-FOR-WaTer and NFDI4Earth
The aim of the CREATIVE project is to make the generic repository RADAR4KIT easily accessible and attractive for the specialist communities organized in the KIT Climate and Environment Center (CEC). This is done with the help of customized templates, format templates and input masks for subject-specific metadata, which enhance RADAR4KIT for the communities and thus represent a noticeable added value for the CEC scientists beyond the repository's good basic functionalities.
At the same time, interfaces are beeing provided that enable direct retrieval of (meta) data from the National Research Data Infrastructure NFDI4Earth. By implementing these interfaces and the standardized metadata description, the virtual research environment V-FOR-WaTer developed at KIT can also be used to pre-process, edit and visualize the data. RADAR4KIT thus functions as an adapted specialist repository for the institutes of the CEC. The adaptation steps using the templates can be transferred to other specialist areas and other KIT centers thanks to detailed documentation. The connection to NFDI4Earth promotes a broader use of the data beyond KIT, while at the same time the connection to V-FOR-WaTer accelerates scientific work with the data sets and their interdisciplinary use.
In addition, the activities within the framework of the metadata workshops at the CEC will create a network of data stewards located within their respective institutes so that sustainable and future-oriented research data management at KIT is strengthened.
