Kadi4Geo4Citizens

Karlsruhe Data Infrastructure for Geoscience with Citizens

Several Kadi4X projects use the Kadi4Mat platform to adapt the management and processing of research data to the respective subject-specific needs within KIT. One example is Kadi4Geosciences (Kadi4Geo). A particular requirement for Kadi4Geo is the need for real-time transfer between sensors, database and output device when it comes to the technical monitoring of the DeepStor research infrastructure and interaction with the public.

In the Kadi4Geo4Citizens project, a fully functional prototype was developed that automatically reads the measured values of a Raspberry Shake microcomputer for vibration monitoring into the Kadi4Geo data infrastructure. The computer displays this data as a graphic on a 3D monitor, together with a 3D model of the subsurface that can be controlled via an input device.
The device was presented to the public at the Hannover Messe in April 2023 and the open day at KIT Campus North in June 2023, where it received excellent reviews.
In the future, the prototype will serve as a communication tool for citizen participation - but it can also be used for other projects where real-time data visualization and processing is required.
